Karaoke Mic
Fastest fix for the usual three
- No sound? Tap the big button once to go live, then check the output shown at the top.
- Speaker missing? Pair it in iOS Settings first, then reopen the app.
- Squealing? Move the phone away from the speaker and lower the level.
I can't hear anything
Work through these in order:
- Tap the talk button. One tap goes live, another mutes you — you don't hold it down. Muted is the resting state, so you're never live by accident, and the button shows which one you're in.
- Keep the app on screen. The microphone is only live while Karaoke Mic is open. Switching apps or locking the phone ends the session — deliberately, so nothing is ever listening in the background.
- Check the output. The app shows which device it's playing to. If it says the iPhone's own speaker, tap it and choose your Bluetooth or AirPlay device.
- Raise both volumes. The fader in the app and the speaker's own volume are separate. So are the phone's hardware buttons.
- Confirm microphone permission. Settings → Karaoke Mic → Microphone must be on. If you declined the first time, this is where you turn it back on.
My speaker isn't in the list
The app can only use devices iOS has already paired. Pair the speaker in Settings → Bluetooth and make sure it's connected — not merely remembered — then return to the app. If it connects but sounds wrong, some speakers need to be in a music or auxiliary mode rather than a call or hands-free mode.
It echoes, or squeals
That's acoustic feedback: the microphone is hearing the speaker it's feeding, and the loop builds on itself. The app warns you when it detects this starting, but the fix is physical:
- Put more distance between the phone and the speaker
- Point the speaker away from the phone, not at it
- Lower the level with the fader
- Keep the noise gate on, so a quiet room stays quiet
There's a delay between my voice and the speaker
There is, and no app can remove it. Bluetooth audio has to compress, transmit, buffer, and decompress your voice, which takes time — typically 100 to 250 milliseconds depending on the speaker and codec. Cheaper speakers are usually worse. If the delay bothers you, a wired speaker through a Lightning or USB-C adapter, or an AirPlay device on a good network, will be noticeably tighter.
A voice is locked
Chipmunk and Megaphone are free. The other nine are part of Premium. Tapping a locked voice opens the subscription screen, where the plans and prices are shown before anything is charged.
I subscribed but the voices are still locked
Open Settings → Restore purchases in the app, or tap Restore on the subscription screen. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you subscribed with — a subscription belongs to an Apple Account, not to a device. If it still doesn't unlock, email us and say which plan you bought and roughly when.
How do I cancel Premium?
Through Apple, not through us: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and turn off auto-renewal for Karaoke Mic. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel anything.
Are you recording me?
No. There is no recording feature and no server to send audio to. Your voice is processed and played out again, then gone. The privacy policy explains this in full.
Still stuck
Email support@bastonapps.com. The app can write most of this for you — Settings → Contact support fills in the version and device automatically. If you're writing from a computer instead, please include:
- The app version (Settings, at the bottom)
- Your iPhone model and iOS version
- The make and model of the speaker
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
One person answers this address, so replies take a day or two, but they are replies from someone who can actually change the app.
